good vibes

Everybody wants to feel good in their home. It’s important to fill your home with positive energy. By doing so, you will be able to turn it into your peaceful oasis where you will always feel safe and comfortable. Positive energy might sound very abstract, but there are actually some very solid things that you can work on to improve the overall vibe of your home.

Declutter for peace of mind
There’s a reason why the minimalist movement is gaining some serious momentum at the moment. Clutter can be terrible for your peace of mind, as well as your physical health. A cluttered home is one that is difficult to clean and it is the perfect breeding ground for dust mites. This could lead to health problems, like allergies or even asthma. Decluttering can seem like a daunting task. However, if you break it down into smaller sections, and go at it with determination and a rational mindset, you will have a clean and tidy home in no time.

Fill your home with greenery
-There’s nothing so soothing like nature. Did you know that the so-called forest bathing – a slow walk through the forest – is actually recognised as a treatment for many ailments in Japan? If you can’t head out to the nearest woods, bring the greenery to your home. The colour of plants is soothing and has a great effect on your mental wellbeing and overall mood. Not only that, they also cleanse the air in your home. They absorb some of the harmful gases present in the air, leaving it fresh and clean.

The air you breathe
When you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, or unwell, nothing helps quite like deep breathing. However, even if your deep breathing technique is excellent, there’s still the question of air quality. There are plenty of pollutants that are commonly found in homes – for instance, bacteria, viruses, dust, smoke and mold spores. Various allergies are one of the biggest health problems nowadays. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent allergens from entering your home. But you can get rid of them by finding the best air purifier for allergies. Once you are certain that your air is completely fresh and clean, you can even add a bit of fragrance to it. Forgo the store-bought air fresheners full of chemicals. Instead, take the green route, and make your own diffuser or air freshening spray using pure essential oils. You’ll be certain they are not harming your health, and even a tiny bottle will last for ages.

Play with colours
Bright colours can certainly affect the mood, but that doesn’t mean that you should paint your entire home an eye-popping shade of orange. In fact, the rule of thumb is that only around 10 percent of the overall space should be in the accent colour of your choice. If you already have a great accent colour, you can work backwards from there, and figure out the ideal palette of neutrals to support it. Even if you feel like you don’t have much of an eye for colours, you can figure it out using one of the many free colour scheme apps.

Finally, now that your home is clean, tidy and gorgeous, all that’s left is to add a few personal touches. They will add that final touch that will make your home feel like your private sanctuary. Surround yourself with beautiful memories, pictures of your loved ones and reminders of your spirituality. Your favorite books, mementos from your best vacations and your favorite paintings can also do the trick. Don’t overdo it – find what makes you happy, and proudly put it on display.
